I'm restoring a 71 T100C, last of the pre oif..How do I remove the chrome cover plate from the front hub? Spindle, bearings, etc., all came off easy, but this puppy I haven't a clue as to how to remove without buggering it. I could leave it because it's nice, but it is bugging me..Thanks in advance

If you look at the inner edge, you should see where the "tabs" that the factory cut into the cap are bent into the brake drum. If it's in good shape, leave it, as you'll probably do some light damage trying to get it off. Replacement ones don't usually come with the "tabs" pre-cut which means that they are best glued on with silicone or something equivalent. I bought and aftermarket one for my '70 and then was lucky enough to find an OEM one, which I used. If you must remove it, try to locate an OEM one first.

Then, try to lift each "tab" with a pick type tool, similar to a fish hook in shape. You may be able to open them enough to remove it and still be able to reuse it.

Good luck with it: Jim
