Is this your trip to the ToD? If so have fun and be safe! Rain forecast in North Ga mountains this weekend, but that is always subject to change. Here's hoping for clear skies and clean asphalt!

Yes. That is the trip. We are all hoping for some fair weather... even if it is just for a few hours in the morning.

I will look for some moonshine if it starts to rain, lol...

Cherohala Skyway and Tail of the Dragon done! Because of the size of the group, the speeds were kept to very safe levels (meaning slow)... no contributions to the tree of shame :D

Oh... and had to put a reflective sticker on the bike and and patch on my jacket to commemorate the event... Installed only after completing the route in one piece hehehe...

Glad you made it back in one piece! The weather in North GA was nice on Saturday despite being overcast, so hopefully you had some decent weather. Cherohala is a great road with some amazing scenery :)

+1 on the Cherohala. It’s on my top 10 list of one of the best roads I ever rode in this side of the USA.

Thank you.

Weather Thursday, Friday, Saturday was amazing... Sunday was another story. Heavy rain and wind gusts since early morning... That ride back was under nasty weather... and I had forgotten my rain coat at home :frown2: ... had to wear thermal clothing that I had to help... that is the photo you see at the gas station... did not matter, could not get the grin of my face. It was an amazing weekend.

Wow, a year since last post and for the same trip!!

Went again, this past weekend, to the Tail of the Dragon... this time around, after the Tail of the Dragon, we also went on a different route through Blue Ridge Parkway and through Cherokee... first time around that area. It was beautiful and the ride in the afternoon was amazing... nothing like taking curves on a motorcycle... being the rest of the year in flat and straight Florida, it is a great change of scene riding through curves, different elevations, and the mountain scenic routes.

Friday and Saturday were fine (just some drizzle on Saturday morning), but Sunday riding back was under a nasty storm... we could care less as we were on our way back, lol. Great weekend!

I just wanted to thank you again for the steering stabilizer you made for me a couple of years ago. Taking the Thruxton R back to Bonneville in August. See you are having fun too.

In the tradition of other threads where I document the changes... Here it goes.

Details on the bike: 2016 Triumph Thruxton R in Silver Ice

  • CAFÉ RACER FAIRING - PART NUMBER: A9708412
  • DRESSER BAR - BLACK - PART NUMBER: A9788022
  • LEATHER TANK STRAP - BLACK - PART NUMBER: A9798010
  • MACHINED OIL FILLER CAP - GUNMETAL ANODISED - PART NUMBER: A9610240
  • PADDOCK STAND BOBBINS - BLACK - PART NUMBER: A9640048

  • REAR LED INDICATOR KIT - SHORT STEM - PART NUMBER: A9838039
  • Solution for mounting a phone - Ram Mount Motorcycle Handlebar Clamp Base - will do the same as in this thread. Since I will have the fairing, installing on the bar clamp is not an option. I will have to drill the steering head nut and install it there... Just in case, a new is upper yoke nut is cheap Part Number T2049880. I will get one, drill it and install this in the center to see how it works out. Or go with the solution from Triumph Phone Holder Kit Yoke - Part Number A9510324

Planned mods:
  • Triumph RESERVOIR, FRONT, MACHINED, Part Number A9628041
  • SW-MOTECH Blaze Sport Saddlebag System - thanks to the feedback of the forum, I cancelled the Triumph bags and will order these instead. Twisted Throttle
  • Euro Spec LH Control - Part Number T2041822 - For same daylight running light setup as Europe
  • Euro Spec Headlight with DLR - Part Number T2706522 - For same daylight running light setup as Europe
  • Helmet Lock Shock Right - eBay
  • Wrap cowl with 3M clear film. If not, pretty sure that at some point it will be scratched by my boot as I swing my leg over it...

Useful videos and links:

Found a video of the process to install the fairing. Since I am staying with the stock bars setup, I should be able to skip some of the steps.

I own the same bike , color and year and was looking on the internet for some instructions about how to install the anodized brake reservoir A9628041, with no luck. I also have a full fairing which I installed a couple of years ago, but did find a useful video which helped. I’ve been messing around trying to get this part; the bracket and reservoir in what would be the correct position with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry... I never changed mine. I actually like the smoked color front reservoir that came stock with this bike. I left it alone. Maybe others that have made this mod can chime in...
