G'day Everyone, I thought I would drop you all a quick post to show you a couple of pics of my Dad's New Triumph America. He recently sold his 1986 Harris Bonneville, which I wasn't too happy about as it was an awesome bike, well maintained and rode well. However I think the kick starter was getting a bit much for the old boy, hahahah. So after riding my 2006 Speedmaster, he has gotten with the new technology and bought himself a 2005 America which as you can see if a beautiful bike with lots of extras, and best of all it is electric start.

I have posted a photo of his old bike and two of his new one.
Looking forward to going for some rides at Christmas time with him, should be a great time.

Way to go! Cool you guys can ride together. A little chrome and exhaust......very nice America. If he likes to do any real twisty rides, convince him to replace the BridgeSTONE tires with nicer skins. I waited until 7k to replace mine as they were tolerable and paid for. As soon as I noticed some cupping on the front I put on Metzlers fr+rr. Went from a bike I loved to ride to a bike I LOVE to ride.

All the best!
Cheers to your Pop!

Congrats to dad, on both bikes... too bad the 86 had to go, looks like great fun.

But he made the correct choice for the new ride!

Hey Clint
Thanks for posting the picky's

It's marvelous what 20years of Technology does. The America goes like the "Preverbial Shot Dog" compared to the old Bonne .

It's taking a little getting used of the gear change. Seems a little "Clunky" between changes. Has anyone else noticed this of is just " The Operator"?Is there a technique to eliminate this?

gerry-

That bit of "clunkiness" seems to be more bike than operator, at least in my experience. Having never riden any other bike, it seems "normal" to me; and to my ear, gives me an added signal.
More pronounced from neutral thru 2nd, which again, seems normal and intuitive.

Others, with more experience with an America, and other bikes, may have better info for you.

Enjoy!

My TBA-
