Now you have a start on a preunit the most important part the gearbox.

This site has some good info I use his technic when rebuilding a 4 speed Triumph trans.

Tinkered with the 6T iron heads today got them all cleaned up.
How they looked after a brief wash up in kerosene.

Soaking them in chem dip after this photo cleaned up the chambers real nice light wire hand brush got them good enough.
Valves looked pretty good continued on with wire wheel treatment.

Shined up pretty well very pleased with the way they turned out.

Getting the sprung hub all greased up after getting the box out.

That moly grease is some nasty stinky stuff...

Cleaned up the bearing found them to be smooth used some good red grease and repacked them.

Some gearbox love the cam plate was bad had some wore areas im sure it had some false neutral issues
I ended up swapping out the plate and plunger/spring out of my unit twin parts stash.

Looking good

I love that you have original paint on the rear hub and brake. The only tiny area of paint left on mine was the inside of the rear brake plate.

Wish I had the perseverance to restore this bike to her former glory as you did with your 52 bird.
Just to hear her breathe again will be wonderful

Some good progress !

BTW.. Are your conrods white metalled or are they converted to shells?
Thanks been working on the chain case and final drive as of late.
I'm running white metal conrods Plasti gauged .001 hair over more like .0015 ish👍

I had a crank with rods that had one less zero of clearance. Went to a "modern" (67) crank & rods with shell bearings. Sourced a proper ball bearing from Buffalo Bearings.

Yeouch sounds like she may have been making some knocking noises unfortunate. Wise choice on the upgrade the bearings for the later 1 piece crank are alot more reasonable price wise and replace able shells👍.
I used a mmrjn1 roller T/s and ball on the d/s on this build. m just planning on a puttin around town and back country road cruisin bike.
