What can I say?

I just got this new ax and this guy on a bike ( must of been a Harley) wouldn't wave at me so I kind of just put two and two together and I thought I would show that guy the business end of my new ax.

How was I to know this kook was going to run me down?

He deserves to be in prison.

Weird....

Interesting how its written up......"Motorcycle strikes ax wielding man" rather than "Man attacks motorcyclist with ax". I also noticed this interestingly worded line from the article: "Sleeper failed to swerve around Peck and his motorcycle struck Peck, hurling him into a nearby ditch". How dare he run his motorcycle into that nice ax weilding citizen! You know how those bikers are....... :-D

Seems to me that if you drive around a man with an axe, you run the risk of him swinging the axe at you or worse, your bike! (you'll heal...).

However, if you ride right at him, his defensive response will preclude the aforementioned axe catastrophe. That's been my experience anyway.

Copper is on it!!!!!!
Notice the media comments that the 'rider FAILED to swerve around.......'
I guess it's the damned rider's fault, because he FAILED to swerve around the Crazy Person.
How far out can we get?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I were driving an auto and in this situation I would simply drive over the guy and then come back to call 911.
Damned motorcycle riders!!!

Hi all - Seeing how I live here, I thought I'd add a little bit to the Story.

1) They are going to arrest and prosecute the Axe Man... once he gets out of Stanford Medical Center.

2) Hog Canyon is a narrow, non-striped, back road. A guy standing in the middle of it, would leave nowhere for a big Harley to go, 'cept off the road, something they don't do very well.

2a) If you were faced with a similar situation wouldn't you use that 1,000 lb beast of yours as protection too ? I think the rider did the smartest thing he could... "Self Defense"

3) If you get far enough back into Hog Canyon, the folks there are "reclusive" and some are Kin of the "Deliverance" gang.

4) I'm amazed he got cell phone reception out there.

5) The "Telegram Tribune" sucks.... the slant doesn't surprise me at all!

I got a great idea, how 'bout everyon write letters to the editor about their obvious bias!... I might actually buy a copy just to read 'em

The fact that the motorcycle actually DID hit the axe-wielding man is irrefutable (although we only have the word of the motorcyclist, I suppose, that the man WAS wielding an axe). Whether the axe-wielding man actually attacked the motorcylist is heresay. You actually ARE a cop, aren't you Copper?

Its not the narrative of events that bothers me so much as the tone of the piece......Unless there is a lot of info not mentioned or known to the reporter, sound like the criticism more properly belongs on the idiot with the ax....

I see what you mean. Perhaps the reporter's dad, a lumberjack, was killed by a motorcyclist. :-D

I thought it was pretty neutral on the presentation. Maybe we'd be happier if the headline was "Quick Thinking Biker Foils Axe Murderer"?

Yeah, I like that, even if the foiling negates the whole murdering thing.
