I was curious about this for my 08 also. I really don't like the mirrors. No luck.
I am late to this discussion, but do the mirrors actually impair your vision?Has anyone tried/used or know of mirror block off plates for the 07 Sprint ST? I'd like to use one convex bar end mirror and either block off the holes or use a turn signal block off.
It may seem like a small thing but I like my forward field of vision with out the mirrors, Im not a fabricator by any means and would probably end up damaging the bike beyond repairso buying them would be best for me and my ham hands. I searched the usual aftermarket sites with no luck.
I'd say to a point yes, they stick out like deformed mickey mouse ears. When I took the mirrors off of my zx14 and put on a foldable bar end mirror, it opened up my field of vision so much more that it was much easier to ride twisty mountain roads W/O the distraction of two "posts" blocking my forward vision and the usual glance into the mirrors when scanning the road for hazards or whatever may be in your path. You might be worried about the red light bandits in your rearview but at that point and 99.9% of the others? Its to late anyways. A decent bar end will show you most if not all of what you need to see, and comes in handy when you're in a semi tuck and you can just look over and not have to raise your head to see what or who's behind you. Just my .02, what works for me may not work for all.I am late to this discussion, but do the mirrors actually impair your vision?
The fun roads I ride, have very little police presence. The area is in the mountains and they just do not have the manpower to cover the more remote rural areas. So I am not worried about what is in my rear view mirror.I'd say to a point yes, they stick out like deformed mickey mouse ears. Haven't done anything yet been to busy riding, swapping in a 18T front sprocket, installing 2005 handlebars as the 07 ones make me feel like I'm a dog begging for a treat, EBC HH pads, dremeling the HELL outta the rear rain gutter because I'm to cheap to buy a tidy tail and swearing at my computer because it can't find an avail. 2 brothers exhaust for the old girl. I just thought the shape of those signals might mirror the shape of the space/holes that'll be left when the mirrors come out and I would like to have front turn signals that aren't on a stalk, like the the butt ugly ones on the rear. BTW I'm also waiting for an integrated turn signal rear brake light and a gear position indicator because I keep thinking I'm in 2nd in a sharp twisty and I'm in 3rd, so when I throttle on coming out of it, I don't feel like I need a canoe paddle to help me get moving.Have you come up with anything yet? I'm reading old threads on mirror swaps. I absolutely hate the oem mirrors. I'd be open to bar ends if there were a block off plate available. I think that would look pretty good and bar ends work fine as long as they don't move from the wind. Some of the cheapies dont hold place ime. I don't think I can fashion a block off though.
Just wondering where you're at with it, if you pulled the trigger on anything. I finally got to looking at the link you posted, assuming I would have seen them already. Those actually look pretty great and are A+ functional. If those work that would be awesome! Pretty awful recent reviews, though. The concept of working the blinker into the block off plates is genius. What makes you think these ones might fit?
Im thinking I might just buy it, return it if it doesn't work if you haven't tried them yet. The more I think of just deleting the mirrors entirely and going with bar ends, the more I like the idea.
cool how do you like the Delks? i was gonna see if I could adapt a 600RR slip-on since its an oval under seat exhaust and have an exhaust shop bend me a stainless pipe or 2 to match the stock one. I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see what the holes under the mirrors look like as I've seen some pretty cool mirror block off signals. What mountains are you riding?Very nice. Yeah, I got a tail tidy and replacement rear signals also. I also did the front sprocket change and muffler swap =p Just went with the carbon fiber delkevic though. Came with a cat delete. Matching carbon fiber-ey led turn signals. Just got brand new shoes put on her today. Feels amazing. I can't believe how little traction I was riding around with up in the mountains in comparison. But yeah when you like to ride every day it's tough to get to certain jobs.
Problem I am having is I don't remember what it looks like when you take the mirror off. Ill have to scour the internets. People have swapped for 98-01 VFR 800 mirros which (edit: MIGHT) mean VFR 800 block off plates could work. Just need to verify the hole left after taking the mirrors off.
