ok following on from my previous post i picked up a obdII off ebay for £20 and the codes it throws up are
P0351- Ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit malfunction
and
P0355- Ignition coil E primary/secondary circuit malfunction.

so i guess its the coils!? (although the bike doesn't seem too bad riding as i hadn't really noticed any change!!!)

only question is which coils are they!? the error codes cover coils a- l!

any easy tests?? i remember something about coils breaking down when hot...at the price of new coils i don't want to be throwing money away!

update!

blame it on the heat- but i assumed that the obdII wouldn't use the same codes as triumphs- but after cross referencing the triumph codes it all becomes clear!!!
P0351 ignition coil 1 malfunction
P1355 ignition coil short to battery voltage/over temperature.

so looks like a neqw coil should sort it....heres hoping ebay still has one!!! they ain't cheap!
