G'day,

I was just looking at the Triumph web page with links to the Triumphs in this new ESPN show.
Metric Build Off

While I can appreciate the workmanship and effort put into building these machines, I have to ask "Why?". How deformed would someone have to be to be able to actually ride one of these "Artworx"?

I know we all like different things so I am sure that they appeal to some (even Paul Smith bikes have been sold, or so I am told), but not to me.

I can't figure the whole trend.

Do they actually sell these things. I have yet to see very many. Even in Ocean city bike week I saw a few, but they kind of just blendid in anyway.

eh, I can take 'em or leave 'em.

Good grief...we absolutely must shield Dazco from the abomination of the Speedie.

I'm not so sure his heart could take it.

Lets hope they come up with something worthwhile as opposed to some old tut! The whole harley build off thing is getting dire - the cut it and weld approach to gi(e)lding the lilly is not goin' to work with metric bikes and I hope the stock in trade chopper approach
doesn't rear it's ugly head - sure it will though - BORING and uncreative that !

The guys from Mocksville that built that crazy orange 955 powered beastie are some friends of mine. I don't quite git the whole thang either, but these guys have came a long way, and I respect them fer that and their love fer 2 wheels. Just 5 years ago they were work'n in a small building behind their house, and now they are quite well known. :-D A couple of pics of the beastie at a local bike show I went to a little over a month ago. :-D

I like to see the Triumph name out there but that is a little to far out there for my taste.

The blue RocketIII and the red/silver Daytona could both look sweet in my garage. The others were a TAD over the top. :-D :-D

It doesn't look like there's much hope, if all that tut, is all that there is! :( I'm expecting more of the same garbage - dull, dull dull! Maybe something new and inspired will come of it though - not expecting much just wanked out lowriders and choppers - more garbage for the Chaps and check book brigade ready to splash on a piece of shi-ite
to feed the midlife crisis.

Are the spikey bits on the orange bike for catch deer? or pedestrians? :)

There is no question that the custom work is very detailed and nice, but they don't look like they would handle well. The other thing that makes me a little on the edge is the point spearlike areas. I would hate to be run through by my own bike..

I sure as #@!! have. What ludicrous junk. I'm just amazed that one builder had the ba!!s to make something other than a long-painted-frame-wide-rear-tire-stretched-fork "chopper." How desperate for other people's approval/attention would you have to be to actually want one of these things? :puke:

You have just hit upon why so many want Harleys. And notice the vast majority of those godawful things(choppers) have Harley motors.
As for your question: they are very desparate and they also have vestigal genitals.

Now as a disclaimer:in the interest of full disclosure I can't stop thinking about that Sportster Roadster I looked at a while back.Help me! My junk is shrinking!!

Totally grotesque, they've drifted so far from the concept of motorcycles that they appear to be designed for similar shaped riders from another planet. A Klingon wouldn't look out of place on one of them.

Being a bike artist myself, I look past the concept of it being a practical ride and try to focus heavily on it's merit as a sculpture. Most extreme builds are not even road-worthy.
This orange creation, for my taste anyway = :roflmoa2:
