Dissasembled one of my rocker boxes to clean it up. Didn't pay real close attention to order of washers since manual had a good picture. When I reassembled...i noted that the spring preload on the side with the acorn nut kind of jammed up so that there was no preload at all. Took it apart several times and concluded that the washer was hitting the little step on the shaft and pushing the spring up against the side of the box. Appears that the washers have to be on the outside of the spring to work. The other rocker box ( which may have been worked on by PO ? ) has them that way. Is the manual wrong or am I missing something?

there is an issue with the rocker info as in some manuals.

That's all I know - Mr pete (I think) has written on it

think i found the answer

There is a website with many if not all year manuals...the 1966 parts manual picture shows the spring/washers in the opposite orientation than my manual or the 1972 manual. So I think I will just go that way unless I get some other inputs from the experts.
