I have been reading the messages here for a few days and I like the site. I have been thinking about a speed triple for several months now. I have a '99 ZRX 1100 now and I was wondering if any of you have experience with both? I like the rex a lot but I would also like something with a little newer technology. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

My friend has a Rex, we switched once. The Rex is ok, but the S3 has a wow factor that can't be matched. His first words were: "I have got to get one of those!"
+1

my friend whom ownes a "green machine" rode my speedy and he loved it. he actually said he was scared of the bike. i think he accidentally got the wheel up without trying when he was far enough away from me to get on it some.

he came back with an interesting look on his face.
:wow:
Definitely time for an upgrade. Didn't have the ZRX, but I had it's granddaddy, the GPz1100 (which was ahead of its time, already fuel-injected). You'll find the S3 to be a lot smaller feeling, easier to handle, and torque from the get-go.

Take a look at this dyno comparison chart - the triple makes torque from the start and pretty much stays there. How this translates in everyday riding is that it just pulls anywhere in the rev range. No need to shift to keep the engine spinning.

It's a total hoot and the best all-around street bike out there.

My roomate has a 1200 Rex. Moded with exhaust , jets, airbox etc... I have done the work on it and ridden it on several occasions. The Speed 3 is a move more performance oriented bike and offers similar comfort. The useable power of the speed 3 will impress you.
Thanks for the input guys. That is what I am looking for. I have pretty much made up my mind already. :)
Keep your ZRX & get a Speedy, I had the same bike it was fun too
Well I did it!!. I went to the dealer last night and put a deposit on a 2007 Roulette Green Speedy.
I'll be picking it up on Saturday. Yess.
:chug: :-g :gpst:
sweeeeet dude, welcome to the club, and very nice choice on the color. A good friend of mine has a 05 ZRX1200, the only reason he has that bike is because we both wanted a speed triple, but I just so happened to land one 1st, and he can't stand having something one of his riding buddies has. The ZRX is very nice, we swap off quite a bit. But I have to admit, when we swap off, I can't wait to git back on speedy. :-D
Grats on the new purchase!

Yeah that green kinda gets under your skin. I swore I'd never own one of those ugly green bikes before I got the REX.
Man I hope you kept your REX Steve!
I would have kept mine but I couldn't afford two bikes, you'll miss the HUGE storage under the seat and the POWER of the ZRX if you sell it.
The Speed Triple is quick but it's not as fast as the ZRX, it's probably a litle more fun in the twisties though, looks shorter and maybe a little lighter.
Let us know what you think of the difference when you get some seat time on it.
I rode up to Lake Henshaw on Sunday. Taking it kind of easy because of no miles on it. I haven't really checked the power out yet. What I have really noticed that the Triple feels much lighter than the ZRX.
Jerry, I plan on keeping the ZRX and setting it up to do track days. I really like it too and would hate to get rid of it.
Steve.
