I'd leave it at my good friend Pushr0d's house, with a tankful of gas!

Seriously, there was a thread on this recently. To sum up, full tank of gas with Stabil, battery tender (of some brand or other) and put the bike up on the c-stand, maybe jack and block the front to get the load off the front tire. Throw a cat-proof cover over it.

Oh, and give it a good cleaning before you leave it.

If you had a carbed bike, I'd recommend draining the carbs.

Other than that, I've heard many recommend dropping a dollop of motor-oil in the cylinders. I've never done this, as it sounds like a bit of a pain...especially for winter storage.

Depending on how long you are going to store it, you might want to remover the spark plugs and pick up some marine fogger, its basically a fogging oil that you sparay into the cyclinders for winterizing maring engines.

turn the engine over a couple times to get the oil coated in the cylinders and replace the plugs.

You will probably have a little white smoke when you strt it again after storage, but its just the oil burning out of the cylinders.
