The husband of a woman who works with The Redhead got t-boned Christmas Eve. On his Harley. Crushed pelvis, full traction and six months of recovery time, minimum.
A very good friend of mine just got her motorcycle endorsement and went for a short ride Christmas Eve. She went wide on a turn, freaked when she hit grass, and slid herself and her brand-new V-Star 650 down a ditch. Four stitches and a bruised liver. Bummer is, it would have been pretty uneventful except the ditch part - it was a pretty deep gully.
While in the emergency room, she found out another female rider suffered a broken collar bone.
The Redhead's still freaked about her little get-off, and none of this helped. She's gonna take the Experienced Rider Course here in January to brush up on her skills. So's my friend with the V-Star, if she's healed up by then.
Me? I had a great Christmas Eve breakfast ride with the RAT bunch (took Trippy). Spent Christmas Day at The Redhead's and while her family was doing their thing, I got her Bonnie outta the shed an' went for a spin. Felt like Peter F'kn Fonda - them bars are up there (well, relative to what I'm used to).
Y'all ride safe.
