The license plate bulb on my '98 Daytona is not working. I have pulled out the whole assembly, but can't figure out how to change the bulb or if I have to change the whole assembly. I can't even get into assembly at the bulb. I've checked all of the fuses and they are good, but my brake light only comes on about 98% of the time. Do I have a short and where should I start looking for it? Can someone give me some input on this? Thanks in advance for your help

lamp bulb

Access is through the seat cowling, which must be removed. Ease the bulbholder out of the back of the license plate light and pull the bulb out from the holder.

you unscrew the unit. I modified mine when I modified my tail fender by removing the existing bulb unit inside the stock unit. I then took apart a Motrax LED license plate light, rewired it and glued it inside.
They are available at Cyle Gear

It works great.
Your bulb probably has a filament that is going bad and makes it illuminate intermittently. Try this and you should be good for a long time since LEDs last a long time.
You can see my modified rear.
