Since I´ve read so much about the advantages in sound and power when you´ve drilled the silencers I finally decided to do it. I made a 2´2 cm diameter hole in every muffler but I am not happy with the result. The one on the right sounds well, but the one on the left, where only one cylinder expels gas sounds awfully rattling a lot when I throttle. I´m afraid I´ve spoiled the exhaust and I think will have problems with the MOT. Has it happened to any of you? I´m surprised because they sound pretty different and I don´t know what I´ve done wrong. Thanks.

You say it rattles? Like something is loose inside? If you used a hole-cutter then perhaps the disc you cut is inside the silencer?

The single pipe will always sound different than the 2-1 pipe - better in my opinion.

I had a problem with a loose bit of metal rattling around after I drilled out my stock mufflers.

Took forever to come out, but I played around with it until it id.

Drilling the mufflers is a nice improvment, but after a little while you'll just end up getting a better set of mufflers.

Hello! First, many thanks for your help. As I wasn´t happy with the result of my drilled mufflers, I´ve tried to improve it.
What I didn´t like most was the fact that the sound of the left silencer was much noisier than the right one and the effect was a total unbalance with identical holes (2,2 cm) in every muffler.
I,´ve inserted a collar (1,6 cm inner diameter) into the first conical restrictor from the engine side of the left muffler, just before the main restrictor that I had drilled. The result with a more little hole in the left silencer seems to be better because the exhaust is much more compensated and continues being throaty. Greetings..

I, like you, wasn't happy with the sound after drilling my '01 Legend out...sounded ratty to me. I also had something rattling around inside, but got over it. Not so with the new exhaust report though. So, I broke down and bought Triumph off-road silencers. Expensive, but sound MUCH better...got the growl I was looking for!

Good luck on getting what you want in the sound department.

You´re right DragonNester,it´s not a secret that TOR´s are the best option, but they are so expensive....I´ve tried a couple of auctions in ebay for TOR´s and it´s been difficult because a lot of people want them.
