Sorry I am at work.

I need to get oil and filter for my 955i. I havent bought them before and whilst at work I thought I would pop out to get them.

What oil is best to use and how much to put in to fill the bike.

Shoudl I use an engine flush or just run it to temp before changing?

And the filter, can I get that at any motor factor, or do I visit the dealer?

Cheers

Oil??? What's that?????

In the handbook the oil recommended by Triumph is Mobil 1 Racing 10w-40. Alternatively, any fully synthetic motorcycle oil to API SH with a 10w-40 viscosity may be used.

Don't use an engine flush.

Don't use a low quality pattern filter. Buy a genuine Triumph filter.

You should also fit a new crush washer on the sump plug.

Definitely warm the engine up thoroughly before draining- I once opened it up to drain, then got distracted and let it drain for about a month (license had been suspended anyway) and when I came back to plug it, it was still dripping oil. Not that a little residual oil is going to hurt anything but... yeah. just warm it up first. Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil is what you want, and every 6,000 mi. is plenty I think- the oil comes out the same color as it went in, even after 40K miles.

Lots and lots of 'oil' threads and everyone has an opinion. I just stick with the Mobil 1 Racing 4T that Triumph recommends (you will likely have to get it from a dealer.

As for filters, the following will fit:

- Triumph T1210444 (about $12)
- Purolator Pure One PL14612 (about $6) *ranked the best filter for the S3
- Mobil M1-108 (about $12. Made by Champion)
- Bosch 3300 (about $6. Made by Champion)

I haven't changed mine yet in the S3, but I'll probably stay with Mob 1. The dealer sells it in pre packaged containers with the Triumph filter. On my old Trophy I used Honda Gold though. The dealer in San Antonio was also a Triumph dealer and that's what they used, so I used it too. It's cheaper, and it's good stuff.

+1 on the Purolator Pure One

I use Mobil 1 Mobil 1 Racing 4T motorcycle blend oil

edit: just noticed you're in Engerland - not sure how readily available these are at your local Halfords?
