During production of the Thunderbird 900s there were two types of fork tubes used, Kayaba and Showa. This resulted in two different part numbers being used: T2042920 and T2045041. The question I have is which part number goes with which type of fork tube? Anyone have the answer?

I thought it was the otherway round.
It may be. I'm easily confused...

Either way, the part numbers are correct early vs. late.

My Legend is in the early serial number block (74634), and it has Showa forks.

(The greenish lettering says "Showa", believe it or not.)

Differences between KYB and Showa forks.
There were two different manufacturers making the forks from 1995-2003.
I took these measurements from my Sprint and Trophys.

Hi all, thank you for your very helpful comments. Following some of my own research it seems Triumph changed from one to the other and back again, not very helpful but we have to live with it.
