all the way down to the piston removal ordered a piston removal tool from mcctriumph.com. what is the safest way to use this tool for removing the pin? does it need to be heated dont want to damage the connecting rod.
Remove both circlips from the wrist pin. Then suspend the piston and small end area in a pot of boiling water. The aluminium and bronze expands more than the steel wrist pin which should slide out easily. ( try not to scald your fingers ) with a bit of cord through the wrist pin with a knot that wont pull through at one end and a loop at the other. When hot just pull the cord wear gloves and have something soft underneath to catch the conrod.
