I finally got around to taking out the baffles that came with my Jardine pipes and putting in the new ones. The difference in sound was perfect and the change in performance not much (guessing 2 Horse Power). Before the bike's DB level was 110 at the bike and 98 from across the street. With the new baffles the DB level is 97 at the bike and 84 from across the street. Wow now I am Federally compliant. From the side of the bike and down the street it was 81 DB.

As for performance I think the extra back pressure helps in the lower RPM's but the smaller exhaust hole restricts a little more on the higher RPM's.

Over all fun factor has not changed and she is still much better than stock. I am happy with my decision.

From your description, it appears I can now consider a set of Jardines. Thanks for updating all on this.

Can you clarify a couple of things for me? The new baffles you mention are currently available from Jardines, right? If I recall your earlier posting, you were in contact with the company and recently purchaced just the baffles. If I purchase a set of Jardines do I need to specify the street legal baffles? (of course will go look at the Jardnine site) I just wanted to acknowledge your post. This is really good news.

The new baffles lower the high end HP and increase the low-end torque. So what's the differences from the TOR/cat bypass? Ans: you lose one muffler - and you pay an extra $400..

This is my last week with TORs. I like the look of the Jars, and love the sound of them. No baffles for me!

So far as federally compliant, I don't think that's a really big deal in Central Texas considering all of the HDs I hear on the roads. LoL

TallRocket,

Not sure if you can order the Jardines with the new less noisy baffles already installed, you need to ask them. I hope you can. They will tell you that their mufflers are for off road use only this way they cover their @sses. Good luck.

Question: Are you currently running the Power Commander? And if so, did putting in the new baffles have an effect on how well the bike runs?? I just installed the full Jardine system on my bike, and could maybe stand it a little quieter.

I love my Jars. They are still not as loud as other bikes on the road, but they rumble well. I can certainly understand how some would want the baffles. I always wear a full-face helmet and can still hear those pipes quite well. LoL

I'm wondering if I can remove the baffles without hurting performance. Any ideas on that?

My list of benefits for going to Jardines am I missing anything?

1. improved performance
2. improved sound
3. allows mounting of full size luggage

The costs for this include:

1. Cost of Jardine system
2. Cost of baffles
3. Performance hardware - Tuneboy or PCIII
4. Installion of performance software
