I hate when an idiot driver:

1. Passes me in the fast lane and when they get about 5 feet in front of me to the left, they pull in front of me in my lane blocking my view and giving a quarter second distance. Whatever happened to being courteous enough to pass me by about 2 seconds and then pull in front of me in the same lane.

2. Is doing a steady speed (no problem), but as soon as you go to pass them in the fast lane, then they gun it and speed up as if they are now racing you.

3. Does not care to fasten their loads correctly so ladders, wood, trash, etc is all over the road.

4. Rides their 18 wheeler truck tire retreads to a point that they fall apart and all over the hwy.

5. Is talking on their cell phone just as they run a stop sign right in front of you.

Add to the list if you want to vent too.

For all those reasons--and so many more--I find my fuse has gotten shorter and shorter.

My most recent favorite: I was splitting on my way home from work (legal here in CA). Just as I come up on his rear fender, this moron on my left starts weaving/turning the wheel back and forth in his lane. ***?

Thankfully, the car to my right made some extra room so I was not only able to get by this a$$hole, but give his front fender a nice, big kick with my boot.

Bamboo is used for scaffolding in Hong Kong. They get the poles to construction sites by truck and they can go 100 kmh. I hate being behind them as I worry about being impaled by a flying pole.

The "lane splitting " thing has me baffled. Other than in Cal. is this legal in any of the other states? I know it is legal and common in the U.K.
Frankly, and my experience has been as a cage driver in Scotland, and it scares the bejesus out of me. Maybe I'm naive. But my memories of it have been squids roaring at 40 MPH whilst the lot of us in cars are creeping at 10. All the best, as I am observant and not prone to ruffle feathers; but sheesh...

Educate me!

McQueen, I used to live in CA and ride a lot over there. A lot of people just don't like someone passing them even though they are stuck and a motorcyclist is not. Moto cops tell stories of drinks being thrown at them out the car or truck windows. Then the idiot drivers realize that it was a cop.

people are dumb, end of story.
Well said, indeed.

the season NEVER ends.
Why don't they come out with a 2 ton motorcycle so we can hunt too?

I go to Asia a lot and I can't believe how high they make the scaffolding out of bamboo. Those construction workers have a lot of guts and skill using that stuff. I'd hate to run over it at a poor angle though if it was on the road.

I thought Texas (especially Austin) was the promise land--what happened?
There were some strong southern winds that blew the Dallas ultra-inconsiderate driver's disease down to Austin. The disease is spreading quick that gets into the few remaining brain cells of "drivers" so that they don't care if they kill you to save a fraction of a second.

You are lucky in developed countries.
Green light - go hell for leather
Yellow - go
Red - for reference only

why get your car or truck dirty, just throw it out the window. I have caught still lit cigarette butts while riding

if you don't ride in the middle of the lane (the oil drip section) then you will be passed on the left or right

we have one of the buesiest sea ports in the world and the roads are clogged with container trucks and other commercial vehicles. plus there are loads of ongoing construction / demolition projects, so heaps of other goods vehicles plus buses to get the 7 million around town.

if you want a lot of fun, come here and ride for a week.

"He with the biggest balls wins" should have been a neon sign instead of a red light in Saigon when I was there years ago. Hit the gas, lay on the horn, GO! And that was the red light and locals, not just ugly Americans. Scary.

Hi hkt100,
I was in HK last year on a business trip, my first and not my last visit, my wife has been their many times.

Man if you ride there I am impressed, I thought it was scary in taxis! :)

Sounds like Italy - after I realized that traffic signs are simply for the tourists, life was much better. Just pull in your mirrors and go as fast as you can.

No kidding! I've never had as much fun in a car as I did in Italy; I bet a few rational anarchists have been spawned by visits to Italy. Do whatever you want, and no injury, no foul! Love it!

Boy was the Baltimore Washington area a rude awakening when I was back there for Christmas. Yuk.

Here's an actual vent; I can't stand it when people STOP DEAD at the beginning of a merge lane. You don't merge with your brakes, people!

Agreed. I was in the cage behind somebody who did that just the other day. Having come to a complete stop, of course it was then well nigh impossible for them to join even the slow lane of the motorway without causing major braking, swerving and hooting by those on it already.

Here's another, not quite a vent but just a query.. why is it that some cages want to race you? You stop at traffic lights, you can just sense that the guy next to you is looking you over and is going to have a go (and it's all sorts, from ASBO in his Vauxhall Corsa to Captain Bolloxoff (Ret'd) in his Jaguar Sovereign. So off you go, leave them for dead until the next set of traffic lights, and then b-gger me sideways with a french stick but they try again??!!

Talking of cage drivers who think they're on bikes, I watched with absolute amazement the other day as a scooter drove up the side of a queue of traffic sitting at the lights to come to a stop in front. A VW Golf driven by two gangsta wannabees did exactly the same, driving up the opposite carriageway and then squeezed in front of the queue. I was so amazed I didn't react, and I guess that's what the guy who had been at the front of the queue thought, 'cos nobody hooted, got out or even "fingered" them. Either that or they really were waving guns at people.. :???:

THE place I can NEVER ride a motorcycle is Taiwan. I have a great respect for all those millions out on their scooters not only in such crazy traffic, but in all kinds of weather and some carrying a family of four (I've seen) and some five (I've been told).

You know after reading these posts here about other countries, maybe I should count my blessings rather than vent. Still, I think as drivers get worse, it's better to let it out with fellow bikers.

I know what you mean. I especially dislike the drivers who have to pull right up in front of you while the road is still wet and proceed to kick up all the water in the road on you. Either it is done deliberately, because they are idiots or the are just oblivious and stupid.

ha ha ha.. Dave if you think the driving was bad in HK.. next time your there catch a train over the boarder to Shenzen in China... they aim for ya on pedestrian crossings.. 50x scarier than in HK... wont catch me riding there

yeah drivers in cars, trucks buses... think theres nothing smaller then themselves on the road... scary stuff..

worst one I had was going through the snowy mountains and there was a car rally happening (The Melbourne Milli) at the same time (going opposite direction to us of course).. alot of the cars were imported left hand drive and european drivers (no offense guys).. most of the road was unmarked and had 1-2 meter visibility due to fog... coming around a corner in poor visibility and finding a car on the wrong side of the road... now thats scary!!!!!!! :wow: :wow: :wow:
