Got three NGK IRIDIUM IX plugs. And found out they were $18 dollars apeice. I thought they were only 8 or 9 dollars. My question is will my stock 2005 S3 really bennifet from them, or are they more for race type engines? I have a K&N air filter and tors with tor map in the bike.

There is only one advantage to using and Irridium spark plug. They do not wear out like a standard plug. The disadvantage is that occasionally the spark plug itself will break before it is ever even close to wearing out. They last so long the porcelin will crack or so might the center electrode shaft. They say irridium plugs will last over 120000 miles in a car motor, but having a spark plug in our motor untouched for 6 years creates its own problems. I use the irridium plugs, but still replace them after about a year or 2.
Irridium plugs do not enhance engine performance at all, EVER.

HA , HA , HA , HA , HA. - $18 plugs are worth it if you think they are. I use the $11.00 plugs.
Yeah, well, when I bought my Speedy, they threw in the spark plugs for FREE. :smug:

For Capt Rat/rckrzy1/anyone else: Why did you install iridiums? Were you expecting a measurable performance increase?
Not me. I had read that they last longer, and having plug issues in the past (corrosion) I figured I might as well give them a shot for the hell of it. I'm not sure it'll help with corrosion issues, but I had a few extra bucks burning a hole in my Paypal account.

I agree that's the reason for installing them. I put a set in my Firebird (along w/ wires) and noticed a slight seat of the pants difference. But then again, the old plugs and wires had 100k on them. The real reason I did it was as you said, increased life. Important w/ that car since it takes good full day to swap them. I figure down the road, I'll make the same upgrade on the Triple.
