Newbie to Triumph bikes. Advised by FasTriumph to air my new purchase in front of you all here.

I have bought a 2003 Bonneville T100 with 8,500 odd miles.

Please have a look at the following photos, is there anything you can recognise which is pretty dodgy / suspect?

All comments and advice on having bought a second hand 53 plate Bonneville T100.

So far I plan to get the standard mirrors back on it, new tyres ( rubber on it dated 2007! ), service (filters and fluids) and ride for a while to find any issues.

Congrats on the new bike, that black rim is not normal, is it painted over the original chrome? If so it should be reasonably easy to remove. Might be trying to hide something.
Good luck!

Thank you. The bike is pretty skanky to be honest. It's solid enough but has been used year round and not cared for. Quite a lot of rust on the chrome bits but a few hours and a couple of bits from a breakers yard will sort it out. The back wheel, either I will just have the correct rim installed to the hub or depending on budget, a pair of traditional style valanced alloy rims on both wheels.

Thanks for the welcome.

Well....... The generally skanky nature of the T100 was enough to stop me buying at the last minute. I have doubts about that bike, enough to stop me closing the deal.

But....... This morning I just collected a well cared for 2007 T100 for similar money that was asked for the previous skanky example. Just waiting for service parts to be delivered and will do a full service before enjoying the rest of the summer riding it.

Happy days.

here is my first motorcycle-2015 base model. Didn’t originally consider a triumph but it’s in decent condition with only 9 miles. Stuck on kilometers at the moment, but I’ll try to figure that one out. Bikes had a sad history…original owner dropped it on himself and then passed from consignment to consignment shop to me.

I’ll have some questions for sure as I live in the middle of Harley country and dealers are 70 miles away. Next step is to work to get it registered and then my MSF class.

Thanks

Good evening. First time owner here. Just bought a 2007 T100. It has a black painted rim on the rear wheel and a chrome rim on the front wheel. Never seen anything like it before. Is that normal on a 2007 T100? Thanks.

If you like it, it's absolutely great! That's my usual answer for aesthetic issues--except I hate brown seats even if they were/ are a super comfortable ride.

Seems really nice and taking that course is a real gift to one's self. I've always had Harley people come right up to the Triumph and we just talk cycling or they even talk about "almost getting a Bonnie"--not a bad lot of people. Odd about motorcyclists--car owners sort of get the idea that it's transportation. Back in the 70s we just understood that folks needed a car first and foremost whether it was a Nova, Pinto or Vega--you didn't dis a person because they could only afford or wanted whatever they drove. All this my dick's bigger than yours biker thing--because of make / model gets really lame, petty, limp pretty quick. It's about riding. Christ I stop and talk to kids on Briggs and Stratton Rupps, Vespas , Tao Tao, any manner of Japanese bike, I'm interested in fellow riders when I feel chatty--where you goin', where to eat etc.

Sorry, I was going after Harley riders, but more saying that the closest dealer to fix my stuck on KM issue is 70 miles away.

I'm not sure if this is the proper way to introduce myself, but I'll try it and I'm sure someone will correct me if not.
I've been riding for over 50 years and currently pilot a 2013 Tiger 800xc (bought new in late 2019) and recently purchased a 2014 Kawasaki Versys 650ABS.As it's the dead of winter, I have both put up in the garage.
I definitely enjoy riding them both, but am considering selling them and getting a new T100 or Ducati Monster. I've owned a lot of bikes, mostly European and British with a few Metric and even one built in India.
Even if I don't buy another Triumph, I'd still appreciate staying a member of this group.

Hello! New Triumph owner here. I bought a 2012 T100 last year, I was looking for a more comfortable bike (last was a Yamaha TRX 850) wich I could use to ride my son to school before I go to work. I always wanted to have a Triumph so here she is.
