took it out for a ride, and look and behold... i ran out of gas. Couldn't believe that happen, the light came on, and instantly lost power. Enjoy a 1 mile hike with the bike and gear to get some gas. :hammer:

gonna pay more attention to the trip meter now.. heehee :-D

wow... is that right? most of us see the light with about 2gallons left in the tank. A couple threads on here talk about how the light comes on too early! Sorry to hear about the
hike :(

Couple of years ago I ran out of fuel...had me missis on the back and was a bit embarrassed, some very nice people gave me a lift to the garage and back let me use their fuel can and everything so got it sorted...it was only later that in all the fuss I realised I could have put it onto reserve !!!! :???: :(

I always check my trip odometer when I fill up, and start thinking about gas at around 100 miles. I haven't run out yet!

heh, both those stories are funny, when i had my bonneville, i was going home from work one day and i guess i had forgot to turn the reserve back to full, and i ran out,, went to put on reserve and just thought,, oh*****, i'm walking. well, not 2 minutes after i started walking a guy on an old harley pulled up next to me, i mean, this guy was twice as scary lookin as r100, tattoo's everywhere, full beard, long hair, ripped jeans, LOUD harley,, he pulled up in front of me, i thought he was gonna kick my ass or call me an idiot or something, but he asked me what was wrong, i just said "i'm an idiot and left the reserve on" he was laughing at me and i thought he was just making fun of me, then he goes " man, i've been riding for 30 years and i still do that*****" then out from his panniers he pulls out a rubbermaid pint bottle filled with gas. filled me up enough to get to the gas station. i was really taken aback. he even complimented my tattoo's and said "yeah,, triumph has done a really good job with these bonny blacks, that's really an elegant bike" i tried to buy him beer or dinner, he wouldn't have it,, just rode off. really cool guy,, ever since then i've tried to not judge a harley rider before i know them. ,on the speedy though i usually see my light at around 75 miles and make sure to fill before 100.

Happened to me too, not too long ago. Pushed the bike around an hour maybe. Still had fun though and learned my lesson, now I top it off every ride no matter how much is in the tank.

I ran out of gas once and coasted into a parking lot of a BAR. There were several young ladies in the bar and ...............you finish the story. It is a good one!

Your not an idjit! I still have not figured out how much gas I have when that danm light goes on! I just make sure the danm thing is filled all the time. seems like it is not always all that accurate anyway.
It would be nice if smeone would come up with an integral fuel guage that was part of the filler with the same design as the original but with a guage (analog) in the center. Sean...
