I've been riding BMWs and Ducatis the last ten years.

Never owned a Triumph, however I'm seriously considering a slightly "used" 06 Tiger with 1500 miles.

Presently it is sitting at a non-Triumph dealership and the original owner is not local (lives 600+ miles away from the bike's location).

Are there any obvious "Triumph" questions I need to be asking?

Again, thanks for any feedback regarding purchasing a slightly used 06 Tiger.

I just spoke to the dealer where the bike was originally sold.
It's break in service has been done.
They also report adding a new exhaust can at delivery.
One clutch adjustment.
No problems to report.
They also answered my warranty question.

Sounds like this "slightly used" bike needs a good home!

Good luck with the Big Cat. I have had minimal problems with my '05. Had to replace the coolant temp sensor (under warranty) and that is it.

Puts a smile on my face everytime I fire it up.
Thanks for the encouragement. I was in your fine state the week before Christmas - down in the TX Hill Country sportin' around on my Sport 1000 Ducati Cafe Racer. What a fine way to spend the week before Christmas.

A group of my BMW buddies are heading back down there at the end of March.

I just might show up on a Tiger to give'em something to talk about.... :-D :-D :-D

You'll fing the Tiger makes a nice change to your Dukes. Totally different engine characteristics, much more comfy, taller and heavy. You'll like it. Suggest you get the loud can for it.The triple engine makes a grrreat noise.

Thanks John. The "used" one I'm considering has an aftermarket can on it... not sure of any details, but I do know what you mean about that triple making a gggrrrrreeat noise. I've heard a few up close at the local dealerhsip....

Make sure you can't make a better deal on a leftover 2006 with the new 2007 tiger being so hot that everybody wants one I think you'll see some good prices on the leftover 2006's Just price around to be sure tman :-D
Yep, I hear you. I did spend an hour or so yesterday calling around and checking prices. Cheapest I found was just under $9000 - most were asking low to mid $9000.

The "used" one north of me was priced at $7999.00. We agreed on something below that and they're holding it for me a couple of weeks till I can get up there and pick her up.

A very special Thanks to TigerTrax who emailed me about this particular Tiger sitting at the local Harley dealer in Omaha.

Seems a CO policeman wanted to join his buddies riding Harleys and traded his Tiger that was just titled in Feb. of this year. At over 30% discount off new, it was just too good a deal to pass up!

TigerTrax - when our paths cross, the first cold one is on me! :)

So, how does it work for the new guy on the block? Am I suppose to bring donuts or what???? :-D

Since you are new to triumphs You have to listen to all the stories about how great a triumph is compared to other bikes until you are indoctrinated enough so that you will tell similar stories to all your friends :-D

No problem. I can do that. Matter of fact, I've already done that......... TWICE.

Earlier in the year, I was a BMW owner (R1200GS - yeah, that one!)...

Then I changed all my BMW stories and inserted DUCATI...

Now, piece of cake.... just insert TRIUMPH!

But, of course, I can't wait to hear your stories.... I'm all ears!

Truth be told, I've been lusting for a Triumph for years. Almost bought the Rocket (but got the GS - long story). Almost bought the Speed Triple (but bought the Duc Monster S4R); this time, there was no "all most" - I did the deal! :-D

I see you list a '06 Tiger as one of your bikes. You must have bought it! One of the great things, of many great things, about the 'old' Tigers is that you can through on the aftermarket or aftermarket Triumph can and just have the dealer flash in the correct fuel curve. You don't have to buy a Power Commander or screw around with dynos or downloading programs. And then Tiger absolutely screeeams!

Glad to see another new Tiger/former BMW rider so close to home. I traded-in a R1150RS for my 2006 Tiger this past summer. There were a few minor mods to be sorted out, but they were way less expensive than items were for the Beemer. Love the engine. My main complaint with the Tiger is not getting in enough ride time.

I'm on the east side of town... downtown Independence.

I bought the 1200GS in February and put about 7700 miles on her but, after I bought the DUC, it just sat there. So, I sold the GS and bought another DUC (cafe racer).

Then my son moves to CO so I'm thinking I want something to get across KS without breakin' my back. Just didn't want to spend another 15k on a GS.... for 2/3 trips across KS a year.

Plus, as stated, I've always wanted to own a Triumph and the Tiger just kinda winked at me so I said, I DO! :-D
