I'm in the process of doing the airbox mod and switching over to Uni pod filters. Kept the battery tray and back part of the stock airbox in, cut the rest off. Planning on re-mounting the wires and such. I'm planning to make some custom sidecovers that show a little more of the side of the bike and allow the filters to be seen. I'm curious to if anyone around here has tried it and what they used. I really want to avoid cutting up my stock side covers. The current direction I'm leading towards is making a triangle shaped piece using the stock side cover mounts. I really dig the look of many of the bikes in the Thruxton cup but seems many of the wires and such are non-existant on those bikes and the rear brake hoses and such are moved around.

Kind of similar to that.

I just cut my stock ones out a little bit, to expose the filters. Then I sanded them down and hit 'em with spray paint. Works for me.

I was inspired by someone (I don't remember the screenname) on this board who did a really good job of it. I have a picture of their bike on my computer at work. If they don't post it up by the time I get into work I will.

I like your idea of making something completely new for it. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Good Luck.

Throw a heavy coat of car wax on the inside of your
stock covers and lay in a couple layers of fiberglass.
Trim, sand, paint and cut out any shape you like.

took a couple hours. :-D
