There are so many things that dont add up here....
-most modern, like less than 20 years old, wont start without the clutch depressed
-that's a hell of a starter and torquey motor that could turn over and actually start in gear (bumping forward sure, but starting and driving off?)
-why would wires melting make a starter turn over? not saying it cant happen, but you have chased MANY cars that way? or one and heard about it happeneing before?
-any car that wasn't stick would be in park and would just start running but not go anyway

Did you watch the Youtube video I posted ?? I think that explains everything :wink2:

I had my Tiger roll forward on the slightest decline. I had to get off to close my garage. Poor design compared to all other bikes I've owned. I do always park in gear.

Somewhat unrelated, I remember shimming my side stand when I had my 800 roadie to give it a bit more left lean because....well in some circumstances, it wanted to fall over to the right, regardless of which way I faced the hill.
