First of all a nice looking bike. That being said I really had no idea that T140's were being made in 72 or a 750cc displacement motor being available in 72. Almost every 72 I have seen has a front drum and I thought that 73 was the first year of the T140 750 and front disc brake.

Tidy looking machine.

Engine number indicates October 1973 model, so might have been first registered in 1972.

My '77 was registered in 1976.

There was no T140V 750cc in '72 as far as I know. First year was '73, but manufacture date well could have been fall/winter of '72, and sold in '72, thus it was mis-titled.

My '72 and all were 650cc T120's, Tiger Gold & White with black pin-striping. Red and black was a '73 color - tho I thought it was just on the Tridents......anyone else know if the Bonnie's and Tridents were the same color in '73?

The proper color of the 73 T140 (export) is Hi-Fire Vermillion with metallic Gold off the badges with Ice White pinstripes. The 73 T150 is black tank, fill color for flashes is red with gold pinstripes. Here is mine with proper color of tank.

She also has the wrong seat and the sidecovers are wrong for the year also. For a restoration job the owner should have spent a tad bit of more time doing research like checking the parts manual for that year for starters. 11k is way too much for that machine that while looks amazing certainly isn't proper for the year.

Are you sure that the sidecovers are wrong? Below is a picture of the original sidecover with decal. Looks like they have always been on the bike. Model is 1973 btw, not 1972. All though build is Oct 1972 which makes it a 1973 model using Triumph's calendar?
