Anybody going to the Honda Hoot this year? Anybody been to one before?

***Before you ask***

It's a huge 4 day rally in Knoxville, TN. All bikes welcome. Great group rides and test rides of:Triumph, BMW, Honda, Victory. 15,000 attended last year.

I went 3yrs. ago. Great time, more of a sedate crowd. Tons of vender's. They also close off old town (bars, and restaurants) to bikes only and it's pretty cool. Hope to go back soon. bete

Thanks Bete,

I've only heard good feedback so far about the Hoot. One of my big reasons for going is the demo rides. I live in NC so I get to have a fantastic ride to and through "The Dragon" coming and going.

My wife and I are going. Been to Laconia bike week 6 years in a row. Getting sick of "bikers".

I wanted to try something else out. They sent me a registration form and a nice brochure.

I think it will be really fun.

Don't want to be a sour puss but,I was there in 00' when it was in Asheville,NC.The self guided rides were more stressfull than fun because the directions were so inaccurate, and to make matters worse the D.O.T. don't seem to think it's necessary to have street signs marking the names of the roads. It wasn't that every road wasn't marked, but there were more than enough that weren't.I gave it another try in 04' in Knoxville.Even worse, more bad directions and unmarked roads, ridiculous amount of traffic(non motorcycle) and lots of rain, heat and humidity, and even more rain the next year I heard.Nothing we can do about the weather though.I've heard from others who were there too and said they would never go back.Again, this was my experience from the 2 times I went there.Hopefully they've improved it and those of you who go;hope you have a better time than I did.

Mrclean,

Thanks for the post. You know the old saying, "If you have a good experience you tell one person, if you have a bad one you tell nine!"

Anyway, just like Bike Week in NH, I just kind of do my own thing anyway.

The trip is definatly weather dependant. A week of showers will keep me home.

Mrclean,

I agree 100% on Asheville! I go there all the time and it took many, many trips before I could find my way around. I can imagine that getting a sheet with directions and being turned loose up there was a serious lesson in patience.

Another trip I'm planning is the Mid-Ohio Vintage Days......any experience there?

I have not been to the Honda Hoot. I hear from friends who go every year it is a blast.

However, I went to Mid-Ohio last summer and it was the best time I have had in years (on any ride). We took back roads up from Mooresville, to Lexington Ohio. The races at Mid Ohio were great. lots of vendors selling almost anything under the sun for motorcycles, lots of people, food was OK. After a few of us rode back to NC via the back roads, I was
worn out. I look forward to at least Mid-Ohio this year!!

OldSprint03,

Another Mooresville person!?!? I thought myself and my riding partner were the only two Sprint guy's around. I've seen a couple Bonnies and S3's but never another Sprint. Did you ride with a RAT group up to Mid-Ohio?

I went to mid ohio last year for the first time and am planning to go back this year. Great time, great racing.
I stopped going to Laconia when the AMA stopped racing there. Been going to Lake George for Americade but only because a friend has a house on the northern part of the lake and if I don't use my June weekend I might loose it. Went to the town once on the bikes, never again sat in traffic for hours. Now we take a boat to town if we go at all. If we want to look at bikes we take our chairs and cooler up to the road and watch them go by.

Mid Ohio is a must do!!!

I've been to Vintage Days twice in the past couple of years. Last year being one. It was hot and humid but it beats the h$ll out of cold and dreary. It's about 3 hrs. up the road from me. Just remember if you can't walk through a 30 or 40 acre field with just about anything you can imagine for bikes and bikes for sale or trade DON"T GO !!! or if you do drive a truck. It really is amazing the amount of stuff there to buy or trade for. Then there is the Vintage races. It's just a really cool weekend.

I am looking forward the Honda Hoot.

I am an hour south of Mid-Ohio and have been going to Vintage weekend for the past 6-7 years. It keeps growing each year and is more fun than the previous.

My bud races vintage motorcross and we work the pits with him. We always camp will leave a sign out for the RAT party (impromptu).
