Hey folks:

Anybody out there got fitting instructions for Givi wingracks on a Sprint or pre-'96 Trophy? I'm dying to get my new luggage installed, but severely intimidated by the sheer number of bolts involved...

Thanks,

Hi Kit,

In case nobody replies with the right instructions, there are some for a TDM on the web, that may give you a clue:
Yamaha TDM fitting.

Please let us know what you think of them. Did you pick them up from Ebay, or somewhere else?

Ciao,
Geoff

Hey Kit,
Check your email. That ought to work for you.

Geoff,
Looks like you have an affinity for three cylinder machinery. Does the mighty Jota 180 shake your eye teeth loose under hard acceleration? BTW, do you have some connection to Givi?

Hi Zip,

No connection with Givi, I'm afraid. I did wonder about fitting the Wingrack to my Sprint, and kept some of the reference material I gathered (part#, etc...). In the end I fitted a Baglux tank cover and bag, and the Ventura luggage system.

Regarding the Jota, our Sprints are very, very refined by comparison. I have had a couple of fillings work loose, but had not made the connection until now. If you are interested, you can see a picture of mine on this MSN link: GeoffsJota

Ciao,
Geoff

Geoff: Thanks. I saw the TDM instructions, but I was looking for where the rack attaches to the bike.

Zip: Got 'em, thanks! All I need now is some time.

If anyone else is looking for these, I now have a copy.

Cheers,
-Kit

Urgh. I was hoping to get the racks on tomorrow, but I don't know if that'll happen now. The tubular supports I have don't seem to match up with the instructions, & they look different from the '95 Trophy pics I've found on the 'net as well. Is there anybody out there who has a Y665+Wingrack on their Sprint & can get me a pic or 2 of how the tubular supports attach? They vaguely look like they might reach the exhaust hangers if I flipped 'em around; is that what I'm missing?

Thanks,
-Kit

GeoffE, luverly bike! I believe 1982 was the year when you could get two different Jota 1000s; the 120 degree rubber mounted donk and the old 180 engine. There have also been a 1200 Jota, which I bleive was mostly for the American market.

I am definitely no Laverda expert, but I know the fairing have been optional at least some years, although I think most where sold with it. I have only seen the 1982 120-degree in red and smoke metallic (very BMWish) and with the fairing, but that doesn't mean other versions weren't made.

Personally, I would go for the big chrome indicators, maily because I tend to prefer either large indicators or no indicators on large bikes; mini blinkers often look out of character IMO.

Never mind. :-D

Apologies for all the noise, but I braved the 20* F weather & 25MPH wind last night & took 'em out to see how they might fit. They lined up right, in spite of looking totally unlike the other ones. No idea why Givi would make 2 totally different-looking kits to mount to the same frame brackets, but they did.

I now have a pair of Triumph hard bags on my bike & I'm off to the grocery store!

Cheers,
-Kit
