running into a problem with the dealer on repairing bike.
the scoop is.. have 3 kn's, secondarys removed, custom exhaust, removed and plugged evaporation canistor.
bike has 1500 miles and is in for 2 warranty prob.
mods have been inplace for about 500 miles.
dyno'd last week no probs.
3 days later acts like it's hitting the rev limiter at 5k
next day go to start acts like trying to fire on only 2 cynds.. check all connections etc. re load 20050 stock tune to make sure no probs.. samething.
tow to dealer he has for 3 days.. no calls .. go and see the serv manager. he says #3 fi not "working". they don't know why but they are "concerned" about mods i did. *** i suggest he swap injectors and he says they did that but still prob. maybe ecu or ground to ecu. i say if 1/2 working etc and all other elect. on bike functions how is it ground to ecu ? dumb look in response. tries to tell me evap/sec removal maybe causing prob... ya right, can hear step motor when key on and evap syst affect opening and closing of inject.. nice try... i tell him to get ecu from another bike and try it.. he says they are "sacred" that one will be "fried" by my bike.
the bike is in his words sitting till they can figure it out..
anyway to contact triumph to light a fire under these guys or any other suggestions ? i know i've got them pissed now.. i gave them the "tech" post on how to fix the fuel light correctly this time.

THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE -JUST GENERAL INFORMATION - CHECK WITH A LAWYER WHERE YOU LIVE BEFORE RELYING ON ANYTHING I AM SAYING.

First, rule. Trust not to the good nature of the dealer.

They are sometimes uninterested in warranted repair work. Why, I don’t know.

So make sure you send them a letter via either a fax with a fax confirmation sheet or via certified mail.

Second, make a copy of the letter and CC it to:

Triumph Motorcycles (America) Ltd.
385 Walt Sanders Memorial Drive
Suite 100
Newnan, Georgia 30265
Main Telephone: (678) 854-2010
Customer Service: (678) 854-2010, extension 2064
Dealer Development: (678) 854-2010, extension 2046

I don’t have their fax number with me, it is at my office, and they do not have an e-mail contact information.

Make sure to detail your problems in your letter and let the dealer know you are not happy with their responsiveness, describing in detail everything that the dealer has said to you.

I would also - BEFORE you send the letter call Triumph, (678) 854-2010 and see if the dealer HAS IN FACT made a warranty claim for you. It may surprise you, but they may not have done it. So make sure you put that in your letter as well. If they have made a claim, Triumph will have a warranty claim number which you can reference in the letter. REMEMBER DETAIL EVERYTHING.

See if this doesn't light a fire under the dealer’s butt.

If it does not, send a second letter in the same manner as above with a dead line demanding that they fix the problem in a particular time frame, such as 14 days, (since any repair on a bike should not take longer than that.) Let them know if it is not fixed you will report it to Triumph and have your bike towed at Triumph’s expense or theirs to another authorized dealer.

If the repair is not done, send a third letter detailing what happened. Then find another dealer and have the bike TOWED to that other authorized Triumph dealer. (You don’t want Triumph being able to claim that the problem was one that you exacerbated or caused by riding it after you discovered the problem.)

Send a copy of the TOW bill to triumph and ask the next dealer to repair it and for Triumph to reimburse you for the TOW.

If they do not fix the bike or reimburse you for the tow, you can find a consumer rights lawyer AT THIS WEB ADDRESS. http://naca.net/

Try to have whatever lawyer you find call the lawyers for Triumph to get their attention. Triumph’s main lawyers are in New York. If it gets that far I can get their phone number to what ever lawyer from NACA needs it.

I DOUBT IT WILL GET PAST YOUR FIRST LETTER. GOOD LUCK.

A wise Rocketeer once said that Rocketeers having problems with their bikes are the ones that have probably screwed with them. Some problems are obvious. Like the exploding Uniflters. You screw with it at your own peril.

thanks for the response guys..
doug i changed the bars also but they aren't related. i know what your saying but a problem with the ecm has nothing to do with the evaporation canister (on calif. models only) nor does removing the secondary plates. this isn't "rocket" science.
when someone tells me they "think" the problem maybe the ground to the ecu and doesn't know how to check for that nor use common sense and think gees 1 & 2 injectors no problem, all other ecu sytems check out ie kick stand tilt, map
stepper motor are all getting signal from ecu... then hey maybe the ecu is getting ground and it's something in the ecu. doug to give you an idea they used a wooden stick, put a bunch of marks on it and rode my bike for 85 miles to then tell me the fuel light was coming on when it was supposed to... ahhh no it's coming on at 3.3 gallons NOT 1.5. i gave them a print out from here explaing how to set it correctly since they obiously can't read a tech bulliton.
the idiot even tried to infer that my exhaust might have caused the problem.

lance , thanks especially for such a detailed response.. that took time to do and i appreciate it. am following your derective as i type this.

I have zero mechanical skill. Maybe a different Triumph mechanic would help.

Travelguy,

I had the same problem you are describing here.
It turned out to be the clamps in the fuel tank.
They had come loose and were drawing differently than the ecu was expecting. The ecu compensated, or tried to, and the bike ultimately only ran on two cylinders.
The dealer told me that my bike was the third Rocket to experience this issue.
Just a thought...I hope this helps.
Good luck.

And yes, I could still outrun a hardly.

Out of curiosity how fast does it go on two cylinders, will it still beat a Harley?
hey soccerref....my honda 360cl will out drag a harley.over here in the uk,we are swamped with hardleys.how do they get that many over here?well the fun is.....to sneak up behind a group of them(they always ride in formation)at about 90mph,come alongside, and give it the biggest handful of twist grip.
or maybe its the long white beards getting in their eyes stopping them doing 140 mph
