Hi knowledgeable people of triumph.net.
In the next few days I'm going to fit a set of heated Oxford grips on the bike. Wiring it up was no problems, but the problem I am sure to have is removing the original triumph grips. I don't want to cut these grips, so any advice on removal would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance Dee

Take a small blunt phillips screwdriver the length of the grip and carefully work it under the grip. With it still inserted take some wd40 and spray it into the gap formed by the screwdriver. Work the screwdriver around the bar and spray in the wd40. Once you've worked it all the way around, the grip will slide right off. Then clean bar with windex or something like that. Works great. I've done it a few times. Good luck with your project.

If you have an air compressor, you can use a small air jet under the grip to separate it as well. I have been successful with both the air and phillips head approach.

When it comes to fitting the new grips you can use the glue supplied and never be able to remove the grips ever again, or use hairspray. It works well as a lubricant but dries out really sticky. I have used it many times on bicycle grips and they never move, but can be removed with the screwdriver and WD40 method.

brake cleaner is also excelent for removing old grips, just lift them a small way with the screwdriver, and spray lots of brake cleaner in the gap, they just pull straight off.

i am buying a set of triumph heated grips for mine in the new year (birthday pressy),i hope they are easy to fit.

Thanks for the replies.
I used spray grease and a very thin and long Phillips screwdriver - came off so easy. Fitting on the left side of the new grips was really easy, the throttle side was more of a hassle as there are small pegs sticking out at the base and end of the throttle bar - a few selective curse words and some major elbow grease and they went on.
Highly recommend heated grips - used them last night on my run to work (32 miles) and had to turn them down three times because they were so warm.

Thanks again guys - Happy Holidays and New Year to you all.
Doctordee.
