Have any of you done anything with your head light bracket? I have been thinking about getting it chromed, but I was wondering if there was any other options out there.
I may be copying one of our own here (pepe) and installing, with a bit fo modifying, the Bonnie brackets on my Thrux. I am not a big fan of the "open" look and prefer to try to hide some of the wiring etc that comes out of the headlight shell.

or.. I may powercoat/paint my stockers... Still not sure.

I polished mine, a little paint stripper to remove the clear coat and some time on the buffing wheel.

I have a custom made adjustable aluminum headlight brackets, with the factory ignition key hardware in stock location.
It was made by Jeff Lewis my metal fabricator in San Clemente CA.
He can do more if anybody likes it!

Wow - Keith, I think thats the first picture of the "Monster" project I have seen on here. I saw some paint I liked the other day for my project - called Cosmic Black Pearl.

Back on topic - I also stripped mine and polished when I did the engine covers, cam cover, brake pedal, shift pedal, fork tubes, and heel plate. I love polished aluminum - and no they are not hard to maintain - but we have no salt or other road chemicals to contend with here.

That looks verry a nic-a.

You have done what is in my head. I think I need to get a buffer to save money. What size buffing machine do you have?
Thanks, I use 4 - 6 inch cotton wheels on an electric drill - its a pain and I should get a bench grinder, but I keep spending all my money on the bike.

See how much closer the headlight is to the gauges, when I had the forks off I was wondering if it would work.. Polishing is hard dirty work, I thing I'm going to put chrome case covers and valve cover on the thruxton...

Chromed mine some time ago when I chromed the engine covers and cam cover, but I wouldn't do it again - I'd go the polishing route. My engine covers have been back twice to the electro-plater and the result is still not satisfactory - they need to come off again. Sure it's probably their process but they are a well known and respected business. Chroming aluminium requires some skill, but surely a professional electro-plater should have the problem licked? I chromed them 'cause I didn't want the hassle of maintenance (ha, ha). After my negative chroming experience I polished my forks and the results are great. As T1 says the maintenance is not onerous. I'm having my chromed engine covers de-chromed and I'll polish them now. Chroming was a nightmare and a serious time waster!

Can anyone kindly give me the dimensions of the Thruxton headlight bracket.

In particular the measurements between the hole centres that mount to the fork shroud and the distance from the forks to the headlight mounting.
TIA
