And if so, what was it like? How did the bike cope? Any pics?

very good actually although not as comfy as the blade took it to wales for the day did about 500 miles
I rode my S4 from Northern California to LA over two days. About 750 miles total. Bike did great. Clip ons were sorta comfy. Not as bad as I expected. I'm probably going to put the LSL Handlebar kit on. I would think the bike would do fine with some luggage.
I took my TT to the Cabot Trail in NS, Canada. It is about 19 hours away from where I live. I stayed there for about a week. It rain alot and the bike never missed a beat. The bike performed very well.

I had saddle bags, a tent, sleeping bag and an extra blanket.

On the way home, I went 11 hours straight on the bike and it was great. I was sore and popping asa the next day.

I had no issues. I did get the bike tuned up before hand and got diablo stradas put on. The tire were great even in 6 hours of rain.

Man, I don't know how things are up in Canada, but if you ever end up down New England way, that tank could cause some trouble. I've seen more than one car or truck vandalized because they were flying the dixie colors here in CT...
I'm with the bucket, a triumph painted to look like the general lee. yee haw, the bridge is out-- I better jump it (insert horn playing dixie). :-D :-D
Nice pic hinkleyboy - anymore?

Cheers for the replies everyone - glad to see they're ok for it! Anyone done much 2-up stuff on them by the way?
Done nothing more than 300-400 miles in a day but still felt fresh at the end.
2 up I've only gone about 100 miles but again, not complaints from the pillion.

Hope to go solo to Europe this year :)
400 miles in one day is my best. The Four was actually more comfortable than my Triple. However, the Triple has more room for gear. (At least my 2000 model does.)

I'm not sure 400 miles qualifies as touring, more a long day ride.
KeithU is the king of TT600 touring. He hasn't been around much lately, but he used to put in 1000 mile days a couple times a year.

Up here in Canada, I have no issues-keep in mind that there is a 01 under the baggage- and did not have any when I went to NW and Maine. BUt I will keep your advice in mind and cover it with a tank bag when I am in your woods :-D But first I have to get my passport

PS. I am not the only Triumph General Lee out there

I'm a link to the picture above :-D

Nope, you're sure not - takes all kinds I guess  .

It may not be my cup of moonshine, but I gotta say I like the job done on your bike a lot more than the other one. :)

talking of OTT racial backlash, i spose you guys in the US dint catch Sunday's Top Gear, the three presenters drove from Miami to New Orleans in car they'd bought for under $1000- a camero, a Dodge RAM150 and some old cadillac and half way the wrote things on each others cars like "country and western sucks", "man love rules ok!" and "hilary for president" to see how much trouble they'd get in, they were nearly lynched in Alabama and were almost killed lol. Why do some yanks get so upset wen ppl think diff to them? bizarre

People take themselves way too seriously. I'd agree that Americans tend to be a bit more provincial than most, though. Hell, different regions of the US are different enough to be their own countries!
Different regions in the US are big enough to be different countries. We even speak different languages, even though we call 'em all English.
Geezzze, I just posted a pic of a tour I did on the TT600. The bike was never meant to depict racism or anything. Or even jack a thread.

It was just a spin on the Duke Of Hazzard which I grew up on.
Not on a TT, but PLENTY of touring TWO UP on a Speed Four ! :yayyy:

My other half loves her S4 !!!!
She's rode her Speed Four accross Spain,
Bilbao to Javea (480 miles each way, in a day) & return,
also booked ferries again for EASTER ! :upthumb:

Also been as far as Siggisora in Transylvania (in Romania) from Yorkshire last June for the 1st Dracula Rally !!!

Went by NSFerries from Hull to Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romainia !
Back by Romania, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Chek Republic, Germany (& the Nurburgring), Belgium, Holland & back to UK.
Approx 3300 miles in ALL in a fortnight.
A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY ! :chug:

We averaged 400-500 miles per day when riding,
the S4 runs approx 120-130 miles on a tank @ 85-90mph, before reserve, before scanning for more petrol & stopping for a break....
Only hiccup was when the S4 clutch lever adjuster decided to unscrew itself after 100miles of cruising (ahem) on a German autobahn !
We got to the end of the autobahn & found NO CLUTCH or gears (apart from TOP) on the S4 eek ! :2guns:
(later S4 clutch levers & housings prevent this).

Me I had it much easier on My ST,
but we both ride with pillions when on hol
(our 2 teenage lads see) ! :chug:

Best advice is I can give is SERVICE your BIKE/fit new tyres, sort yourself out some EXTRA travel & medical insurance 4 your bike & YOU, book ferries & JFDI ! :upthumb:

Neil.

I've done a few camping trips on mine (S4) and it's coped very well although can be a bit prone to wheelies with extra weight on the back! I've also ridden a lot with my girlfriend on the back. I find it copes well but it's not quite as comfy for the pillion as the ZRX1100 I used to have. Here's a shot of mine on a camping trip to Wales

as you can see, they can hold a fair bit of luggage! :-D
