I'm pretty new to wrenching and I have a spoked EFI Black. I'm getting M Bars in the mail tomorrow (Thanks newbonneville for a 7 day order-to-door turn around), and I'm not sure what tool to use to remove the handle bar clamp nuts. They don't look like the standard hex nut. It's a round nut with fine ridges, like the ones you'd find on a new quarter. What common tool must I use to get these four nuts off?

Also, since I have your attention, any good tricks to getting the left grip off?

Finally, any word on the torque value when tightening these nuts back on?

Many thanks in advance.

those are just covers that pop off, and then it's an allen/hex head underneath.

to get the grip off, lift the edge up and spray one of the following into the grip:

-windex
-listerine (really)
-compressed air
-gasoline
-hairspray
-vodka (kinda kidding, that would be alcohol abuse!)

Also, if the new bars aren't knurled in the middle like the stock bars, they might slip. If they do slip you can cut some shims out of a beer/soda can that will sit on the bars/under the clamp and that will tighten things up enough so they won't slip.

Thank You

Covers, huh? Thanks for the insight and shimming advice.

Any other tricks I should know when replacing the bars?

As for the left grip, I'll use Windex and have some vodka when I'm done.
