My 95 Tbird has the common fault of overcharging the battery, and vents thru the overflow pipe. To avoid the hassle of topping up the battery is it ok to fit a gel battery ? Or would the overcharging damage the gel or battery ?

If by GEL battery you mean an AGM type sealed battery, then yes they are fine.

I have had an AGM battery in my TBS for the past 4 years, which is twice as long as the original battery lasted.

westcobattery.com I have had excellent experiences with their batteries on my Triumphs and Harleys over the years.

:) I would get an AGM battery, by all means. They are much better. But first off, I would cure the overcharging issue. Could just need a new reg-rec.
