Hi, I was forced to replace the oil seal on one of the forks on my 2012 Speed Triple.
I have managed to dismantle the fork and put the new seal in place.
The fork is now back in one piece apart from the bottom allen bolt.
I can sometimes "catch" the bottom of the damper with it but I can't seem to tighten it so the crush seal gets firmly in it's place.

What am I doing wrong? It seems that the damper is rotating inside as I'm turning the bolt.

Please give me some ide on how to tighten this bolt as otherwise it will just piss oil from the bottom.

You probably need a tool to hold it on the inside. I have previously done my own fork seals and fashioned a broom handle to do the job. Not sure that it would work on these forks though.
Perhaps you could find a mechanic (who has the tool) to tighten it for you or maybe hire the tool.

Did you only do one seal (how did you manage to burst it)..?
If one has gone it's probably best to do them as a pair

Thanks for replying. I have done it in the end.

It was the case of holding the damper inside. I "injected" a rubber hose and it kept on jamming the damper with every turn of the bolt!!!
Pretty proud of myself here

I then constructed my own spring compressor and used it with a ratchet strap to rebuild the top parts of the fork.

Not sure why the seal was leaking (got the bike second hand)

I'm glad this nightmare is over...

If it is a 2012 why did you not get it fixed under warranty?
