My plan is to put Bonnie in the back of my pickup and drive down to Dallas in 2 days. I will then take the bike off and ride her to Phoenix in 4 days if the weather is good. If the weather is not good will keep driving the truck to AZ. There I will meet up w my buddy who is flying down from the NWT. He is going to rent a Sportster and we will cruise around for 10 days. After he goes back I will ride/drive back home. Total time 3 weeks.

I know what you're thinking.....If the weather is good from Dallas to Phoenix, maybe it won't be on the way back. If it is crappy out I will rent a pickup 1 way and float her over the mountains back to Dallas.

So.....Does that sound like a good plan....? :-D :-D :???:

If it sounds good to you, then it is a good plan.
You're flexible, which is always good.
Have a hoot, eh?

Wow! Very cool trip. Glad you have the time to avoid weather related stress. Such a variety of terrain will be available regardless of any storm activity, but keep a respectful eye on it, you can go from sea level to over 7000 feet in a couple of hours. We literally would take the kids to play in the snow and drive home for a BBQ and swim party on the same day.

Best of luck!

Probably too late, but if you're looking for a day trip, consider heading down to Bisbee. Depending where you start in Phoenix, it's 3 or 4 hours one way. PM me and I'll tell you where to get a beer. If I'm in town, I'll buy the first round.

Not a lot of great twisties, but the ride can really give you a sense of the scope of the great southwest. And Bisbee's a fun little town.

Regards,

Mark G
