Well you don't necessarily need the freak to do the airbox removal, you can buy the K&N (or Uni if that's your preference) pod filters by themselves, what you would need to do then is figure out how and where to mount the starter solenoid, and then how to brace the carburetors from the back end. The freak is a way to: mount pod filters while still having some kind of mudguard, method of retaining the faux air filter covers, mounting the starter solenoid, and having a tool box. If the tool box and air filter covers aren't important to you, than you can improvise your own ways to have a mudguard and solenoid mounting point, while have pod filters. Good luck!
