Is the street twin for the same part as the previous bonneville fork? Are they the same part #?

I'm thinking of installing an andreani cartidge in my forks. So if earlier bonnevilles have the same part #, i figure I'd call some places to see if they have any forks off a wreck that i can acquire to simulate installing just to see if i can do it and see what exactly i need to do and or if i need special tools or just have a pro do it.
Or just wait till yamaha makes a contemporary version of their xs 750 / 850 bikes from the late 70s with their new 900cc triple with fully adjustable big piston forks.

I guess the question is how long are the ST2 stanchions compared to the various A/C bonnie variants. The safest DIY solution is to pick up a set of stanchions from whatever model has the closest overall length and install your ST2 fork sliders on them...
