I know its a remedial question, but do the fork gaiters require any fork disassembly, or is it a slip and clip process? Many thanks...capoanj

The forks themselves do not come apart (for gaiters) but they have to be removed.
You remove front wheel, fender, & brake caliper , then the forks removed one at a time, slide gaiters on, then reinstall. Do it step by step with "the book" and you will be ok. Do not dive into it if you have no experience and no book, if the forks are not installed correctly it'll be dangerous to ride

ps- I see you're in jersey. I might be able to give you a hand if you get stuck-or if you ride to my house I have all tools etc to do the job in my driveway

Buckethead, I agree, this is what it's all about...connections...and fork gaiters! I;'m eager to share the Triumph experience with like- minded and geographically convenient souls, and without something like Rat.net, I'd be forced to wallow forever with the Hells Orthodontists on Harleys that surround me. Not that there's anything wrong with orthodontists.

The trouble to install the gators is well worth it for cool factor alone AND I have found they actually extend the life of the fork seal by keeping "junk" out.........and imagine, some of us cut them off our bikes as kids cause we thought it looked cool to run bare forks !!!

For purely cosmetic purposes, is it not possible to just a set of gaiters from top to bottom, glue on some type of out-of-sight velco, and then just wrap them around the forks without any other disassembly? True it would not have the same seal against dust or moisture, but it certainly would be easier and inexpensive to do in 5 minutes.

Geoff,
I'm over the river on the PA side. If you guys get together I'd be interested in meeting up with all of you to say hello and look at bikes.

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Lenny

I'd host a hang-out for sure. keep your eye on the thread, and if I hear anything privately, I will make the appropriate details known here, so we can get some gaiters installed, look at a couple bikes, and have some fun

is anyone in the position to do this tomorrow, Saturday the 11th?
we may not have much more nice weather, and I had planned to stay home and work on my car, at least in the morning till about 10:30. That kinda frees up the rest of my day, and I was gonna ride anyhow. If anyone wants to install gaiters tomorrow, let me know here before 5 pm, and we'll get it set up
Geoff
