Hey there all,

Have had bikes for years, but decided to go brand new this time around... proud owner of a 2015 Triumph Thruxton.

Looking forward to logging some miles and meeting up with other riders here in central Texas.

Any suggestions for bike nights or gatherings in Austin?

Cheers

Don't know if you're a facebook inhabitant, but the Capital City Rockers vs Mods Austin have a lot of get togethers posted there. Here's one they posted for Friday nights.

"SAB Bike Night!
South Austin Brewery is setting up a regular Friday night Bike Night / Happy Hour. We'll create an invite for the first one or two, but this will be a regular meetup for SAB.
Every Friday at South Austin Brewery (415 E St Elmo Rd, Austin, TX 78745).
Join us every Friday at 6:30pm for great beers and bikes!!!
$3.00 pints and $10.00 pitchers.

Thanks all!

Futant I went with the black w/ gold stripe... such a cool color combo

Sean and Houston08: thanks! I reached out to the Austin RAT group on FB and if the weather finally clears up I will have to try that bike night at SAB... the rockers v mods Austin FB group seems to be really active

Get in touch with Jeremiah Martin. https://www.facebook.com/jmiah.martin?fref=ts
He runs the RvM in Austin and they've got something going on all the time. So.....have the mods started yet? I had a black 2013 Thruxton that was taken out by two kamikaze deer on a trip through Arkansas this last summer. Went with the Brooklands green this time. :D

Houston08 I was so close to the brookland green... but I wear black most of the time so I figured that would be the best choice.

No mods yet, but they are about to start... probably predator pipes and the fender delete first up

I just finished bobbing my rear fender (actually, a left over fender from one of my previous Thruxtons) and changed out the tail light and turn signals. I like having a bit more splash protection a cut down fender gives over the FEK's.
You'll like the Predators. I've had the regular Predators on my first two Thruxtons. Went with the new shorty Preds on this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRzhqWWBQ3U

The shortys are about the same as the regular Preds at idle, but are a bit louder when you crack open the throttle. Performance wise, I can't tell any difference at the seat of the pants. It's a BIG difference over stock, though! I've always installed the complete performance package when I've put pipes on, (this is the third Thruxton I've had Preds on, the first two being carbureted '08s) so I couldn't say how much of a difference over stock it is with just a pipe change.
If you go with the longer pipes, you should check out the TPUSA Dominator Sports. They're the exact same pipe as the Preds, and TPUSA's performance package is about $120 cheaper right now than British Customs. (Plus, BC doesn't even have a listing of the performance package for the Thruxton any more. I can't imagine they don't have it, though.)
If you go with the Preds, they should let you go with the shortys or the regulars if you call and talk to them about it. The pipes are the same price.
