Thruxton Fairing Removal

Greetings all. This year I became a proud owner of a beautiful '06 Thruxton 900 at a great deal with great mileage, too bad it's winter here...

Anywho, the bike came with the fairing installed and out of boredom and curiosity, I took it off. After staring at it for a while, I decided I liked it off. But while I was unscrewing the bolt that supported the fairing from the bottom, I noticed the plate that extended out from the fork to secure the bolt. Can I just simply remove this, or does it have to stay put and stick out like a sore thumb if I want to ride without the fairing?

The bike didn't include a manual, checked, and I can't seem to pull up any info online on such matter.

If nothing else is attached to that plate and it doesn't seem like a structural component, then you can probably remove it.
It sounds like it's a brace for the fairing and part of that assembly.

A picture would help.

alright, I thought so too when checking it out, but wanted a second opinion, I'll try and get a picture up soon, can't make any promises on quality though.
