F3 fork mod...

There's been some discussion about this mod in the cafe forum. Some member's have already done this with very good end results. After reading that topic several times, I've decided I'm sold on the mod.

I read recently that someone sent their fork's off to racetech to have the goldvalves installed. This bike was apparently a "mule" for the project...I would assume so they can get a kit setup for our bikes.

The F3 fork's will permit more adjustability over the standard fork's as you will beable to control front ride height over a greater distance compared to stock. They are 1.375" longer than our's.

Anyway, if there's any intrest in this, I could post some pic's as I go along...once I get all my stuff.

Before I realized that the thrux yoke was different than the bonnies I had it mounted up with the genmar's installed..( like above pic )..the thrux yoke with the CEK from LSL move's the bar's back from being nearly directly over top the bar's .

With the drag bar's attached they would hit the tank, as it stand's now they just miss. If anything I guess I could put a taller riser on, I don't think I'll need to raise the fork tubes any higher though.

The static ride height seem's correct, and the first impression from riding the bike feel's good. I do need to take it out for a all day ride though, maybe this coming saturday when it hopefully get's to 50* again.
Looking Great Trim - Your on the home stretch now. Wish I was too -even with the other bonnie I'm getting kinda antzy to get the Thrux going again.

Anyone have experince with fitting gold valve emulators and aftermarket springs with the Thruxton OEM forks? Is this the hot set up for ARMHA Thruxton racing?
If you look at the pic on page 2 around mid page, that is the exploded view of the thrux forks. I'm sure this would be a awesome setup for the challenge series.
I'm about to start this project. I'm assuming you guys are using the CBR uppers, and the Thrux lowers?
That's correct, or in my case F-3 tube's and internals and stock bonnie lowers...( same 41mm diameter )
The spring's I used came from Race-Tech...I ordered their gold valve's and springs. Otherwise I'd use all the F3 internals, spring's and all.
well *****... this is a piece of cake then. should get my bike back by the weekend. I'll post some pic of the swap.
dredging upan old post. Whats the correct fork oil measurement with the F3 fork mod??? I assume measure with no spring and fork compressed, from top of oil to top of fork???

Much thanks!

Need to know also, and the fork oil weight. Doing the swap tomorrow.
When doing this mod I used Racetech gold valves as well as their springs. The spring used was based upon their recommendation for my weight. As for the oil, we used 5 weight. The gold valves permitted adjustability by adding or removing shim's from the "stack".

About the correct amount of oil, I'm sorry I do not recall this.

Fork oil level 135mm from the top of the tubes - compressed, no springs, per Race Tech for F3 forks. I have 80 kg springs and Gold valves with 10 weight oil.
Thanks Thrux-ton-up, I was really confused about the level of oil as the triumph dealership said 600cc per side... but that's a thruxton fork.

I'm going to be using the stock f3 springs & cartridges with 10 wt.

I'm waiting for a friend to get done with his downhill mtb. season so I can use his garage... hopefully this weekend.
Hi guys,

Hope you don't mind what I know may be a dumb question but...

There's lots of talk about the F3 modded forks being longer than the standard Thruxton/Bonnie ones, but does anyone know how they compare to the stock Scrambler ones?

Better yet, can anyone give a measured length of the F3 modded fork, fully extended, from axle centre to top of stanchion (ignoring any adjusters)??

I'm keen on this mod, but want to know if it will fit first!!!

Thanks in advance guys.

Ian

fork oil

Cartridge forks are not as dependent on oil viscosity for control in the normal working range. I am using 5 w and weigh 200lbs. 10 w will make the ride harsher. 485 cc-T1
fork mods

Is the F3 fork mod the same a racetek emulators???
