With these "push-in" exhaust pipes, I've also used the copper hi-temp sealant, but I've also used some cheap black silicone sealant as well with the same success! I don't think the black even has a heat rating, but it's held remarkably well ! Now, I do have the "decorative" finned collars. 'Don't know if they help "cool" the area or not, but that black dried and didn't burn off and is still holding! Try whatever, you may find that it will work! :hammer:

When removing the headers after sealing them with the products you all mention, is it difficult to clean the exhaust ports in the head and the pipes? I've seen some tape at Dennis Kirks for headers. I've never needed anything in the past, but the split pipes I've installed have a little movement in them and I'm afraid they might wallow out the ports. Any in sight will be appreciated. :???:

what about clear bathtub silicone? in ~theory~ plain old silicone can handle an insane amount of heat. i used some white to seal up the bottom of my push-rod tube until i can afford a top-end job (either timewise or moneywise), and it's run a few-hundred miles without burning. not quite as hot as the exhaust ports down there, but it's worked fine.
