I just checked the air filter on my 02 S3. To do this you have to remove the fuel tank. When the tank was off, I turned on the ignition key to check on some other bulbs I replaced.
Since then, the engine light stays ON. I guess the ECM couldn't find the fuel pump and turned ON the engine light. How do I turn off the Light ?
Thanks in advance.

1. try running it for 15 mins on idle, do not rev. if this does not cure it, let it cool down and then start it and let it warm up again, do this 3 times.

Lesson learnt the hard way, don't turn on ignition if tank is out.
(I did the same)
As Limey said error should go away after 3 cold/hot cycles, IF everything is ok.
If you're anal about it then get Triumph dealer to cancel error OR get a tuneboy and use it for the same purpose, amongst many other things.

I had the same problem with mine. It went away after a while. I guess the starts and stops I did took care of it. No sweat

203MPH,

I know for sure that 3 heat cycle bike on and off for each cycle clears this CEL on my 03, does the 5 key only on offs as you describe work for 995is or only on the 1050s?

Could have saved myself alot of time after swapping batteries :-D
