I'm taking my Creamcicle in for its first (break-in) maintenance and I'm going to have a center stand installed. I was thinking about engine guards too. Are they worth it?

They are definitely worth it if you go in for that sort of thing. I had a set on my old BMW R60, and they saved my valve covers more than once. I don't use them on my Triumph, because I was going for something different. They definitely have their place, though...

You may want to consider frame sliders too that attach to the engine screws. New Bonneville sells them and that's what I bought. I like them and for about $150 I think they are worth it. Kind of like insurance. You can pay a bit now, or a lot later if they are not there and you need them.

The comments on the sliders just sold me... I'm a new rider and bought the t100 two months ago and the last thing I want to see, other than breakin' some bones, is to damage 'my girl'. I'm thinking about the renntec engine guards too...

Since I'm a newbie rider I am curious which of the three would offer the best protection for the bike: 1) Triumph crash bars; 2) Renntec engine guards; 3) lsl frame sliders... since all three are with $30 of each other.

I got the highway bars, altho they are primarily another spot to rest your feet, I feel they would offer a certain amount of protection to the side of the bike as well.
its one of those theories i hope never to test
