Hello,

I have a small issue with my 2002 Tiger. Maybe someone has an idea of how to fix it.

I can really only start when in neutral. With the engine started, I shift into 1st (or 2nd) and the engine dies. Then I repeat the process and select neutral, wait a bit, and usually after 1-2 tries, I can drive away.

Really annoying. What could be wrong? I thought of the side stand sensor but did not check anything yet.

Best

Your side stand switch likely needs to be cleaned.
Put the bike on the center stand, and move the side stand up & down.
The switch should move freely. It's likely dirty & sticking. After a good cleaning, try lubricating it with some dielectric grease.
If it is and you can't clean it adequately, you'll need to replace it.
Fast Eddy Sports can get one for you.
