I hope so-seems like it is a rumor but the reality of meeting the new emissions regs makes it more than likely. It would be great to use a Tuneboy to set up the bike!!

I just bought a new 2007 T100 Bonnie (Black & White) because I want carbs and don't want EFI. Carbs are going the way of the Dodo, and I think at some point in the future carb bikes will not only be a rarity, but could possibly be collectors items. (Depending of course on the bike) I also want a bike that I can wrench myself. Call me Amish.

I've owned quite a few BMW bikes and I'm now turned off by ABS, EFI, and now they are introducing ESC (Electronic Stability Control) No thanks.

EFI bikes (I've owned three and ridden likely 20 different ones) I find can suffer from abrupt surges in relation to throttle input ( its either "OFF or ON") with little transition in between. Carbs, properly set up are much smoother. If the EFI mapping isn't spot on the bike can be a pain to ride.

Exactly why I traded my BMW R1100S for a Thruxton! You know, I was at our local Moto Guzzi dealer the other day and got talking about the cost of a Guzzi injector, I couldn't get over the price he told me!!! $400.00 for one!! Who in their right mind would want to pay that, he did say that one injector fits all the bikes, wow!

HD riders don't like the FI models because they can't adjust (read: lower) the idle as easily.

They like to idle at 500-800 rpms so they get the real "potato potato potato" sound at lights, even though they're not moving enough oil through the engine at that rpm...
Sweat you always crack me up! I love the wise cracks because you actually know what you're talking about. :hihi:

You give me too much credit, but thanks anyway!

All my Bonnies have EFI, smooth as silk even with 42mm throttle bodies. It's all in the tuning, hook up a Megasquirt for $3-400 and you will never have to buy another jet in your whole life
I'm still thinking about it Jojje!!! I'm skeered of the tuning though...I know the wideband Lambda sensor makes it easier, I don't have a laptop though...I bet I could get an old one cheaply...still thinking...thinking hurts.

Don't think too much.
Yeah, you only need a $100 laptop. The wideband sensor is $200.
Or you can do what Carl Stevens did, hook it up to a PC that has broadband and let me tune it for you from here! That was special, I couldn't even hear the engine, all instruments. But it wasn't on a Dyno so it only got good enough, not prefect.

EFI

ABS

All great ideas, but you try fixing that on the side of the Highway when something goes wrong. At least I can pull my carbs appart, give them a clean and Im on the road again.

Smell a bit of gas though, great aftershave.

Gozo,

Thats the whole idea, nothing will go wrong.I have never had,or met anyone who has had EFI problems on their Triple.I have an aftermarket exhuast on the Sprint and with the TOR EFI mapping it is great.

If the EFI does come about in 2008 (which I have no doubt it will) how long before New Bonneville and Bella Corse offer faux carb covers to conceal the EFI for that Retro look. :-D

On a classic bike like this I would rather have the carbs. Being that I like to ride up in the Rocky Mnts. I'd be curious to see if EFI made a noticeable difference with the change in elevation. My dad has an old '59 Chevy Apache and I didn't notice a difference in the altitude.
