Is there room to try the old trick of bending the spring and inserting a washer between each coil, that way it'll extend it enough to hook it on. Then just remove the washers with it extended.

Just a thought: Jim

What I usually do is to get one end seated then grab the other with visegrips and pull vigorously, making sure to have the web of the thumb of my other hand in the bite when I let it go. Hurts like hell, but it works.

Attach one end of the spring (proably to the sidestand end), then loop the other end of the spring over a stout phillips head screw driver. Lay the point of the screw driver over the other attach post. Postion the screw driver so that the attach post is nestled in the cross of the tip. Then just lever the spring into place. The spring will slide down the screwdriver shaft and slide right onto the post. First time is a little hard trying to figure the angles, but once you get the hang of it, it's a 15 second job. I have an old screw driver in my tool box just for that job.

The washer trick works best when you think to insert the washers before you take the spring off. And it takes longer too.

You might try looping a plastic wire tie around one end and putting a long screw driver through. Pull it in place and cut the wire tie.

P.S. I see I was a little late on that one.

Hi I know the tool SWare is thinking about.
It's a T- handle for grip with a straight rod and a hook at the end.
You can make a tool fairly easy yourself. Or just buy a real nice one from Motion Pro.
