My son took out my Joe Rocket riding jacket to try it on just now and when he took his arms out they were covered in a black sticky substance. This jacket is probably 13/14 years old but it’s been in my closet with a cover over it for like 10 years. It looks brand new inside and out so I was confused. When I started googling things I found this forum where some people were talking about the armor in the arms breaking down so I checked the pockets and pulled out the most disgusting black ball of crap! I wasn’t lucky enough to find this issue while the pads were still somewhat intact. Has anyone else ever found this mess too late that can give some advice on how to clean the sticky residue without hurting the jacket?? This jacket is extremely special to me.

just a thought .... put the jacket in a sealed plastic bag - pop in the freezer to make the sticky goo solid.
that should make it easier to clean out..
