Just read a thread about a "spare" shim washer after an engine rebuild and it occurred to me to remind y'all that when you disassemble a bike, engine or component, to have the parts book handy and check the parts as they come off. That way, you'll be somewhat familiar with where the various bits go when its time to put them all back!
It also helps to understand what might have been the cause of various failures if the person previously working on the bike/engine/component installed things wrong or left out miscellaneous bits (shims are notoriously overlooked).
